God Himself assigns the spiritual father that He chooses for you. As our all-knowing Father, He knows exactly with whom to set us who can help us mature into His Fatherhood. Of course, this must be a man of God who can lead you into fuller maturity and relationship with God. When God sent Elijah to Elisha, He had already told Elijah that he should be Elisha's spiritual father: "...and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-Meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room." (1 Kings 19:16)... ...here is another ESSENTIAL point for a spiritual son: A true son walks WITH his father. A son should be WITH his father through thick and thin, helping pay the price to bring his commission to pass, and faithfully standing by him, no matter what others may do. (Now, once one has been formed and made into a true son, with no guile or self-agenda, who carries forward the commission which God gave to their spiritual father, they may be sent out geographically by that spiritual father to expand the commission. [Now, there are always those sons who remain with the father, helping their father bring to pass the original commission.] Either way, during the critical formative processes, the son MUST be WITH the spiritual father.) Jesus called His 12 disciples that they should be WITH Him. The apostle Paul took Timothy WITH him, of whom Paul boasted, "...that as a son with the father he hath served WITH me in the gospel." (Phil. 2:22) Elisha left his father's house and went to be WITH Elijah. There were "sons of the prophets" in Elijah's days that were very familiar with Elijah and revered him greatly. However, they did not walk with Elijah as Elisha did. They did not lay down what Elisha laid down to walk with Elijah. They did not pay the price, day and night, that Elisha did. They were not true, full-fledged sons to Elijah. THEREFORE, they did NOT receive the anointing and the mantle of Elijah when he left the earth. In fact, they didn't even know what had happened to him! (2 Kings 2:16,17) Only a true son, one like an Elisha, will partake of his father's mantle... ...GOD in reality has only one spiritual father chosen for you who will bring you up into the fullest dimension of Fatherhood. You may previously have had other men of God in your life who have imparted to you in ascending levels of moves of God, but they may not be your ultimate spiritual father - the one who can lead you into the complete apostolic move of God/full-fledged Fatherhood!
